From time to time, we want to bring you updates of our plans to establish the Lenham Village Hub in the back of the church, a facility for our village to enable rural community to thrive by introducing 21st century facilities into 12th century heritage. Some of you may have attended open evenings about this, but if not, we’re planning a wide space at the back of the church, all on one level, with eco-friendly heating, a superb kitchen and lots of storage. As part of the project, the church will be redecorated and its lighting improved to really show off the beauty of the architecture. Our good news is that the project is approved by both civic and ecclesiastical authorities and completely designed and costed. The final price tag seemed too expensive, so we are now tweaking the design to try to get the total down to about £500,000. Other good news is that we have been promised roughly £100,000 now and we have hopes for additional gifts. That would bring us to a level that we can start to apply for big national charities. Watch this space for news! Thanks to all the team. We have spaces for others to be involved in this, so if you would like to join our team on this exciting project, get in touch via our email.
